Dr. Aparna is known to be the first and the only woman composer in Assam, approved by All India Radio, Guwahati. Over the years, she has created a niche for herself in composing songs largely based on the Hindustani Classical Ragas and folk tunes of the state.

Antaranga Foundation

A major section of Dr. ​Aparna's leisure time during her busier Cotton College (now Cotton University) days have been dedicated in contributing to various civil society work. She has been actively associated with orphanages based out of Guwahati. 

From a young age, she has been involved in relief work as part of her association with Suratirtha. Through her association with Suratirtha, she has provided relief for over 100 children. As a trusted advisor, she has contributed in the formation of Kanya Mahavidyala, a girls college in the Mother Teresa Road, Guwahati.
